Priests of History: Stewarding the Past in an Ahistoric Age with Sarah Irving-Stonebraker
Join us for a special evening with Sarah Irving-Stonebraker hosted by Christ College and Gospel, Society and Culture.
Sarah Irving-Stonebreaker is Associate Professor of History and Western Civilisation at Australian Catholic University in North Sydney. She grew up in Sydney and completed a PhD in history at the University of Cambridge. While doing post-doctoral work at the University of Oxford lectures by Peter Singer and her own historical research stirred a spiritual curiosity which finally led her to follow Christ. Her research has covered areas of early modern science, colonialisation and freedom of religion. Her current focus is on the place of history in Christian thought and the Western tradition. She and her family are active members of an Anglican Church.
Her book Priests of History: Stewarding the Past in an Ahistoric Age (Zondervan, 2024) looks at why history matters for Christians and how they should tend and keep their past. It has won book awards from The Gospel Coalition and Outreach Magazine.
Sarah will share some of her own story and speak about the theme of her book: the importance of history and how Christians can value it.
Registration is essential. Tickets are available at the link above ($20 General Admission; $10 Students).
