COVID-19 Update: Summary of COVIDSAFE Policy & Procedures (05/06/2020)

Christ College is committed the faithful stewardship of the people and resources God has entrusted to our care. Our COVIDSAFE Policy & Procedures outline how Christ College will care for all those in our community throughout the COVID-19 pandemic while on the College premises and/ or working for the College (whether on-site or at home). This policy applies to all Staff Members, Students, and members of the General Public for the duration of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Below is a summary of the relevant points for the Christ College community:

Access to College Premises

  • All persons accessing the College Premises will be required to sign in and out of the College Premises and provide their contact details (including name, email address, and contact number) for the purposes of providing information to government health officials to aid with contact tracing if requested. The College will keep these records for a period of at least 28 days;
  • Cleaning

  • All persons on the College Premises will be encouraged to adopt safe hygiene practices including hand washing, limiting touching of eyes, nose and face, and covering of mouths while coughing and/ or sneezing;
  • The College will ensure an adequate supply of hygiene products such as hand sanitizer, hand wash, paper towels and disinfectant wipes are provided at key entry and exit points of the College Premises as well as high traffic areas;
  • The College Premises will be cleaned by a contracted cleaning company daily with careful attention given to frequently touched surfaces including tabletops, door handles, light switches, desks, toilets and toilet doors, taps, phones, lift buttons, alarm keypad, front door security keypad, EFTPOS machine, etc.;
  • Physical Distancing

  • All persons on the College Premises will be encouraged to keep appropriate physical distancing practices as laid out in current NSW legislation. This currently includes the limiting of physical contact with others and keeping a distance of at least 1.5 metres between people;
  • The number of people in any given room or space will not exceed the restrictions laid out in current NSW legislation. This currently means there will be no more than 1 person for each 4 square metres of space in any given room or space
  • Library

  • The Library will follow all recommendations for safe handling and display of items as laid out in the ALIA Responding to COVID-19 Checklist
  • Classes on College Premises

  • Subject to restrictions laid out in current NSW legislation, and relevant approvals from the Australian College of Theology (ACT), the College will endeavour to conduct face-to-face classes on the College Premises where possible
  • College lecturers will endeavour to provide a comparable off-campus learning and assessment experience to Students who do not wish to attend face-to-face classes due to concerns surrounding the COVID- 19 pandemic
  • Vulnerable Person(s)

  • The College will endeavour to provide the best possible alternate means of work or a comparable off-campus learning and assessment experience to any Vulnerable Person(s) who elect not to attend the College Premises
  • Occurrence of COVID-19 Infection Within the College Community

  • If a case of COVID-19 affecting a person who has been on the College Premises within the last 14 days is confirmed, the College will follow the procedures outlined in the ACT Critical Incident Response Plan – Infectious Diseases including notifying the relevant authorities, contacting people who may have been exposed, and shutting down the College Premises for a period of at least 14 days unless an alternate timeframe or process is advised by relevant health authorities
